Biography
As a young woman, Lihli made the choice to depart from her home and seek out a life independent of the responsibilities of that home. Travelling taught her the value of botanical life, and an appreciation of the different alchemical applications of their varying properties took her to Ul'dah.The hot sands and rampant poverty suited her ill, but the call of proper alchemic study kept her interest for more than a summer or two. A request from an ornery soul sent her, alembic in hand, on a quest to the city state of Limsa Lominsa.She found a new home in the embrace of a sunny La Noscea, and Ul'dah lost an aspiring alchemist. Sowing wild oats as an entertainer and peace keeper in the Drowning Wench, Lihli abandoned her craft for long nights and loud music and the bright allure of good drink.While working there she engaged in many flings, but one would serve as the catalyst that altered every single aspect of her life.She loved a man. They coupled, and she began to carry his children - a set of twins.Before they had time to gestate, he left her for another. Unable to continue her work at the Wench, she fled back to the Shroud, selling her few possessions to keep herself fed and clothed. She stayed in the Shroud for a time, living under the cool stones of the Sanctum of the Twelve in exchange for prayer and maintenance of their altars. She was found and housed for a time with a tavern, the Wandering Tonberry, in the Shroud. But that, too, came to an end. One fateful journey to Ul'dah to use her meagre earnings to buy and alembic an mortar and pestle again, a heavily pregnant Lihli looked evil in the eye. She emerged alive but very badly damaged from an axe wound to the gut and the shattering of her spine. Her children did not make it past the ordeal, and their lives were ended before their birth.Shattered, Lihli was recovered by a few good Samaritans who took her to her temporary home. She recovered enough to walk, then fled. Frightened of touch, of people, of sound and cities and unable to trust another, Lihli sank into a deep depression.She had to find her own way out of that dark place, stumbling and tripping every step along the way, feeling her way blindly until she found a place of light and warmth again. The strength she got from that fight emboldened her, gave her a sense of purpose, and she decided that no one would ever again have to make that same journey alone.She became something new. A light in the darkness, a compass to point the way, a guiding hand that would not let go until whoever she helped made it to the place they wanted to be safely.She began to offer her services to the frightened. To the lost, the confused, the lonely, the isolated and the broken. She offered them the voice she needed in her own time of darkness; a calm, patient hand reaching out and encouraging someone to take it. She set up a practice offering platonic comfort and touch therapy to those who couldn't bear to find it elsewhere in a less safe environment. She found a new calling, and she chased after it with every onze of strength she had. Until the day that strength began to fail her. When her legs could carry her no further, she began to search for a place from which to work when she could no longer go to her clients.
